Mulching & Bed Care in Mercer County, NJ
Premium hardwood mulch installed with crisp, defined edges.
Mulching & Bed Care done right, by neighbors who live here
Fresh mulch is the single fastest way to make a Mercer County yard look cared for. We install premium hardwood mulch (brown, black, or natural) in beds around the house, along walks, around trees, and in island beds. Before any mulch goes down the beds get hand-weeded, the edge gets cut clean, and any bare soil gets raked smooth so the mulch sits even at about 2 to 3 inches deep.
A lot of older homes around Lawrence Township, Ewing, and Hamilton have beds that have not been re-edged in years. The lawn creeps in, the mulch line gets fuzzy, and the whole front looks tired even when the plants are healthy. Cutting a fresh 4-inch deep edge by hand and dropping new mulch behind it makes the house read sharp from the curb again. We do this hundreds of times a season.

How it works
- 1
Measure the beds
We measure square footage on the spot, count cubic yards, and quote material plus labor in writing.
- 2
Weed and prep
Beds get hand-weeded, any invasive vines pulled, and the soil raked smooth. Pre-emergent on request.
- 3
Cut the edge
Fresh hand-cut edge along every bed line, about 4 inches deep, for a clean shadow line you can see from the road.
- 4
Install mulch
Hardwood mulch installed at 2 to 3 inches, hand-tucked around plants so we never pile it against trunks.
- 5
Clean up
Blow off all walks, drive, and patio. You should not be able to tell where we drove the wheelbarrow.
When we do this work
Most mulch jobs go down between mid-March and late May, with a smaller second wave in late summer to refresh sun-bleached beds before fall. Spring books up fast; if you want mulch on the ground before Easter, call us in February.
Frequently asked questions
How much mulch do I need?+
Most front-yard bed jobs around Mercer County run 4 to 10 cubic yards. We measure on the estimate visit so you only pay for what the beds actually need.
What color mulch do most people pick?+
Brown is the most popular by far. Black makes a strong contrast against pale siding. Natural is best around mature trees because it breaks down into healthy soil.
Will mulch help my plants?+
Yes. It holds moisture in our clay soil, keeps roots cooler in July and August heat, and cuts weed germination by a large margin.
Can you do stone instead?+
Yes. We install river rock, decorative stone, and pea gravel, usually over landscape fabric. Stone costs more up front but does not need to be redone every year.
